Important information concerning our productions of
SECOND-HAND STARS

A throw-a-way mind-set is now a thing of the past and we’re all learning the importance of re-using and recycling.

For fifty-years, Bob has done ninety-nine percent of his puppet-making supply shopping at thrift-stores, yard-sales, and flea-markets. He’s discovered hidden treasures, fantastic costuming materials, stage and set building supplies – all kinds of things that can be reused and incorporated into the creation of future productions.

What has always amazed Bob is the vast quantity, quality, and diversity of stuffed toys. Huge bins, swollen to overflowing with adorable puppies, dragons, kittens, sea-serpents, pandas, monkeys and apes, bugs, elephants. . . . an incredible hodgepodge of toys simply thrown away.

Over the years, Bob would snatch up the toys that he thought might make a good puppet. When he felt he had collected enough, he set about to create his production of SECOND-HAND STARS. As he explains it, “All these wonderful toys have been simply tossed away. I’m just giving them a chance to be a star - second chance to shine.”

Everything in SECOND-HAND STARS show has been created from recycled materials, not just the puppets, but the sets, props, and curtains as well. And . . . as an added bonus, immediately following the performance, Bob is happy to chat with teachers and parents alike, showing them how to turn old toys into puppets.

SECOND-HAND STARS is so much more that just
another puppets show.
