When invited to create the Smithsonian Puppet Theater in 1967 Bob and Judy Brown moved from New York and settled in Virginia. Since then, they have presented their outstanding productions to hundred's of thousands of young people throughout the metropolitan area.
It’s impossible to separate the work of these two master puppeteers into separate and exclusive categories, as each serves a vital role in the other’s creative process. This progression from the embryo of an idea to the full-blown product is the result of the Browns' willingness to accept that each brings a separate yet equal contribution to the projects they’ve created together for many years.
Bob Brown Puppets have been a major children's theater company for the past Fifty years, offering the finest in children's education and entertainment and performing to over 300,000 children a year.

| For over 50 years, Bob Brown Puppets have enriched the lives, the imaginations, and the potential creative abilities of hundreds of thousands of children. Each year, they play to 60 to 75 thousand youngsters, now performing for the children of those they played to 35 years ago. It is impossible to separate the work of these master puppeteers, as each serves a vital role in each other's creative process. Jusy concepts a new project, Bob, as the designer, turns the concept into a workable area. Judy creates the scripts; Bob creates the puppets, sets and props. Judy is the director; Bob is the performer. A perfect combination that has resulted in wonderful creations that bring together art, music and story-telling to the delight of children (and grown-ups) everywhere. | |
